Curated by Rachel Piercy
Location: Manning Regional Art Gallery, Taree NSW
Date: 23 March – 13 May 2023
About the exhibition:
Through a series of accessible multi-media artworks, four regional artists: Kim V. Goldsmith, Kit Kelen, Allison Reynolds and myself invite audiences to think, explore and contribute to an ongoing conversation about regional environments in a zero emissions future.
Regional Futures: Box of Possibilities is a conversation in art from the regions of NSW. It’s about imagining a future post-carbon economy and a society powered by renewable energy, captured in a series of accessible multi-media artworks created by four regionally based artists who have explored life leading up to and beyond 2050. It invites audiences to think, explore and contribute to an ongoing conversation about the regional environments they wish to live in.
For this show I’ve been using portraiture to explore the cultural identities and stories of individuals and places in the region. The works highlight the subject’s vision for the future and emphasise the importance and contributions each individual can make to our rapidly changing society.
Regional Futures: Box of Possibilities is proudly support by Orana Arts, Arts Mid North Coast, MidCoast Council, Manning Regional Art Gallery and NSW Government through Create NSW.
In June 2023, I will be joining 28 other fellow artists from across the state to present these works and continue the conversation at an exhibition and symposium at the Casula Powerhouse, Western Sydney.
